Local boys win bronze with Quebec U20 fastpitch team

Two teens from the Pontiac represented Quebec last week at the Canadian U20 Men’s Fastpitch Championships, coming away with bronze medals.

Cade Kuehl of Shawville and Hunter Beauregard of Campbell’s Bay made their way to Carp Ont. from August 20 to 25 to compete against teams from all across Canada.

Kuehl said that they faced some adversity over the course of the tournament, with three wins and five losses in the opening round, before going on a three game streak on Saturday to make it to the bronze medal match. They lost 8-7 in extra innings against the eventual tournament winners, Plattsville Lightning.

He said he thought he played well over the course of the tournament, especially since he’s one of the younger players on the squad. Earlier this summer, Kuehl won gold with Quebec’s U17 fastpitch team.
