Pontiac teen headed to Canadian U17 Fastpitch Championships
A young man from Shawville, Cade Kuehl, will be representing Quebec at the U17 Boy’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Saint-Gervais Qc. from August 6-11.
A recent graduate of Pontiac High School, Kuehl has played competitive ball since he was 12 years old, and this will be his third Canadian Championship, having played at the U15 and U20 level. Also a member of Quebec’s U20 squad along with Hunter Beauregard of Campbell’s Bay, the pair will be heading to that age-group’s championship in Carp Ont. at the end of the month.
Kuehl said he was familiar with the four Ontario teams that they were competing against, and said he expected a high level of competition over the course of the tournament.
Kuehl has mainly played catcher since he started competing at a higher level and said he enjoys the strategic aspect of the position.
As far as his future plans go, Kuehl hopes to one day wear a team Canada jersey, but also to stay involved with the Quebec provincial team’s program in some capacity.
The full interview with Kuehl (5m40) is available here.
