Carrefour jeunesse-emploi holds AGM, looks back on previous year

27 June 2025 à 2:30 pm

On Thursday morning (June 26), the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi du Pontiac held their annual general meeting at their office in Campbell’s Bay.

The non-profit organization provides a wide variety of employment and educational resources for people aged 16-65, from hosting job fairs and workshops to providing work experience through their Sortir du Bois program.

In French, Director Karim El Kerch said that despite some staffing challenges this year, they continued to offer a number of services to the population.

He added that they were working on a project with the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration to help integrate newcomers to the region.

Mouncef Nouani was one of several participants who gave their testimony, and spoke about being assisted by the Carrefour after arriving in Canada from Morocco. Currently working as a business advisor for MRC Pontiac, he said that the CJEP helped him both find employment as well as housing in the area.

During the meeting, board members Todd Hoffman and Annie Vaillancourt stepped down from their positions and were replaced by Gilles Vallières and Benoît Deschaines.

A pdf of the CJEP’s 2024/25 annual report (French only) is available here.

The full (French-language) interview with El Kerch is available here.
