TransporAction Pontiac sees increase in usage for 2023, in need of volunteers

Local public transportation non-profit TransporAction Pontiac held their annual general meeting on April 25 at their office in Campbell’s Bay. The group has busses and vans that make regular runs as well as a host of volunteer drivers who take individuals to their appointments, known as adapted transport.

Director Sylvie Bertrand explained that they’d seen a sizable increase in ridership for both collective and adapted transportation compared to 2022, going from 24,940 trips total (16,476 adapted, 7,974 collective) to 28,866 total trips in 2023 (18,919 adapted, 9,231 collective). She said that they also saw an increase in ridership in the Fort-Coulonge/Mansfield region.

Bertrand added that they were always in need of volunteer drivers for their adapted transport service, especially in the Shawville area and in the Municipality of Pontiac.

Bertrand said that they would be adding a new adapted van to their fleet next month, and were planning to replace one of their busses in the next year or so.
