The 10th annual walk against domestic abuse towards women on November 25th

21 November 2019 à 12:00 am

The Pontiac community is invited to take part in the walk against domestic violence towards women on November 25th, starting at noon at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort-Coulonge. The founder of the event, Marc Boisvert, has organized this event every year for the past 10 years in memory of Diane Durocher, whose death in 2006 was linked to domestic violence.

On Monday, the organizers will inaugurate the “Banc des Diane”, near the church of Fort-Coulonge, to raise awareness for the cause. Here is Marc Boisvert on the subject.

The event is organized in collaboration between the Knights of Columbus and L’EntourElle, which provides services to teenagers and women who live or have lived in an unhealthy relationship. The organization’s clinical leader, Ashley Nadeau, clarified what the “Banc des Diane” means in the community of Fort-Coulonge/Mansfield.

L’EntourElle will also take the opportunity to launch their “12 Days of Action program. Community interventionist Vanessa Chabot listed the activities that will be carried out during these days.

The walk against domestic violence towards women will be held on Monday, November 25th, beginning at noon, from the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort-Coulonge. For more information, contact Marc Boisvert at 819-683-5600, or Vanessa Chabot at L’EntourElle at 819-683-2709.
