MRC Pontiac issued a press release on April 24 announcing that a special meeting of the council of mayors has been called for Monday April 29 at 9 a.m.

The only item on the agenda is listed as “Communication with residents concerning the EFW Initial Business Plan: Resolution to approve the newsletter and corresponding budget.”

The EFW (Energy from Waste) refers to the a proposed waste incineration project that has been a focal point of political action in the region over the previous months. An initial business plan from Deloitte costing roughly $120,000 was released to the MRC website on April 11 and removed the following morning, as the MRC did not have permission from the contractor to distribute it publicly.

The meeting will take place in the Elsie Gibbons Room at the MRC office in Campbell’s Bay (602, Route 301 N).
