Pontiac Voice criticizes the CISSSO temporarily closing the Mansfield CLSC’s Emergency room

28 December 2022 à 4:16 pm

The group La Voix du Pontiac – Pontiac voice, reacted to the CLSC in Mansfield having to temporarily close its emergency room from Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 7 a.m. to December 30, 2022 at 9 a.m. In a news release issued an hour after the CISSS de l’Outaouais made the announcement, the spokesperson for La Voix du Pontiac – Pontiac voice, Josey Bouchard, indicated that it is with dismay and anger that Pontiac residents had to learn that the CLSC’s emergency service would be closed on December 29, due to a lack of doctors on staff. In an interview with CHIP 101.9, Josey Bouchard said she deplores the CISSS de l’Outaouais communications and approach to informing residents.

“Once again, the CISSSO is conspicuous in its lack of transparency informing citizens at the last minute. Once again, Voix du Pontiac is asking itself, “what efforts are being made to find a replacement doctor? Once again, the lack of accessibility to basic health needs is forcing residents in the west end of the Pontiac to drive 74 km instead of 33km for health emergencies. Once again, local services are under severe strain. Once again, we are suffering from the decision to centralize health services in Gatineau that seemingly does not extend to Pontiac residents,” Bouchard said.

She also mentioned the obstetrics services at the Pontiac Hospital, which is still closed in the Pontiac. The full interview with La Voix du Pontiac – Pontiac voice spokesperson, Josey Bouchard, is available here.
