Pierre Bourque: A Quiet Donor and Supporter of the Fort-Coulonge Arena

The Centre de loisirs des Draveurs has paid tribute to one of the arena’s main donors in recent years, Pierre Bourque. “For years, Pierre Bourque has been a silent ally of our arena. From lighting to heaters, many improvements here have been made possible thanks to him, without the public even knowing,” the Centre stated.

The arena committee revealed that Bourque was the one who recently stepped in after the loss of support posts holding the glass panels, as well as unexpected extra costs tied to installing the boards. “Pierre didn’t hesitate. He was the first to step up and help, signing a cheque to keep the project on track,” the committee added.

Though discreet about his contribution, Bourque shared a few words.
“I grew up in this arena and have so many wonderful childhood memories here. When I left for work, my family and I lost touch with the rink, but when I returned, I was shocked to see the condition it was in. I promised myself then that I would do my part to help bring it back. This arena has always been the heart of the community, and I believe it’s everyone’s responsibility to keep it that way,” said Pierre Bourque.

His most recent donation is a cheque for $15,000 to complete the installation of the boards.
