Numerous power outages caused by winter storm

23 December 2022 à 2:40 pm

The winter storm, which began on the evening of December 22 and continued on December 23 in the Pontiac, has caused several power outages in the Pontiac territory. The municipalities of Otter Lake, Isle-aux-Allumettes, Mansfield-et-Pontefract and Bristol were the most affected.

“ The current winter storm is causing power outages in several regions of Quebec. These occur when vegetation comes into contact with the network following gusts, or due to the accumulation of heavy snow. Due to the weather forecast for today and tomorrow, the number of out of order customers may continue to increase. The Outaouais, Laurentides and Capitale-Nationale regions are currently the most affected. Our teams are working to restore service as quickly as possible,” Hydro-Québec noted in a statement.

It should be noted that, in the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, the Municipality of Pontiac saw more than 1,000 customers affected by its outages and in the Municipality of La Pêche, more than 2,000.
