New restaurant opens across from the red covered bridge

There’s a new place to eat in Mansfield-et-Pontefract, right across from the municipality’s iconic red covered bridge, the Terrasse du Pont Rouge, which opened Mother’s Day weekend.

The owners are two couples, Jean-Guy Duval and Laurette Vaillancourt, as well as Fidele Karangura and Micheline Tabaro, who also own the motel in behind the restaurant.

Rich Pleau, son-in-law of Duval and Vaillancourt, explained that they had been working on renovating the building for around three years. He said that they were pleased with how busy the first weekend was, but said they still had some kinks to work out.

Pleau said that they were working on how to differentiate their fare from the other eateries in the area. He said that Karangura and Tabaro, who hail from Burundi, might have African specialties one weekend, or a Chinese-style buffet the next.

More information is available on their social media.
