MRC Pontiac unveils new tourism bureau upgrades

MRC Pontiac unveils new tourism bureau upgrades

12 February 2025 à 2:41 pm

MRC Pontiac held a press conference on Wednesday (February 12) to unveil a newly upgraded tourism bureau and digital sign at their office in Campbell’s Bay.

The project has been in the works since last April, with the funding being allocated from the FRR component four, a provincial fund from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MAMH) that is administered by the MRC. The total cost of the upgrades is $85,000 , with roughly 75% of that allocated for the exterior digital sign. The funding was entirely from the MAMH, with the MRC providing in-kind contributions.

Stéphanie Hébert-Potter, Economic Development Commissioner for Tourism and Culture explained that they had opened up the existing tourism information kiosk for the sale of artisanal and agricultural products sourced from the Pontiac region, as a way to highlight local producers.  Those looking to have their items included can contact Hébert-Potter or Shanna Armstrong at the MRC’s economic development department.

She added that the digital sign along Hwy. 148 outside the building would be used to transmit current events in the region, as well as emergency updates such as road closures.
