MRC Pontiac posts properties to be sold for non-payment of taxes

9 August 2023 à 11:14 am

The MRC Pontiac issued an advisory notice of sale for property owners with long-standing unpaid municipal taxes. If the current owners do not take steps to pay the sums that are due, the buildings named in the notice will therefore be sold during a public auction on Thursday, September 14 at 10 a.m. at the Campbell’s Bay Recreation Centre (2 Second Street). These named properties will be sold to satisfy the payment of municipal and school taxes with interest and costs incurred, on the condition that the owners do not step in and pay the taxes, interest and fees before the sale.

The list of properties for sale is available here.

“Before the opening of the public auction, the endebted property owner, or his or her representative, may withdraw the property from the sale by paying all sums due in cash or by bank draft to the order of MRC Pontiac. Every owner of a property sold for taxes has a year to regain possession of his property upon payment of the sum of the auction and inherent costs,” the notice specifies.

Remember that any owner of a building sold for unpaid taxes has a period of one year to repossess his building upon payment of the full amount of the auction and the inherent costs. If, at the end of the one-year period, the owner has not availed himself of his right of withdrawal, the final sale will take place.

For more information, the MRC invites the public to contact the administrative technician, Jessica Soucie (819-648-5689 ext. 233, j.soucie@mrcpontiac.qc.ca).
