Fort-Coulonge: First collective agreement reached for municipal employees
The Pontiac Municipal Employees Union – CSN (Fort-Coulonge branch) is pleased to announce the signing of its first collective agreement, the result of a full year of negotiations and sustained mobilization. This agreement marks a significant milestone for the seven municipal employees, who will see a marked improvement in their working conditions.
The new agreement includes salary increases ranging from 11.5% to 30% over five years, depending on the position, as well as an additional week of vacation, 12 paid sick and family leave days, three new vacation days, and a clear health and safety procedure. Union representatives emphasize that these gains demonstrate the importance of unionization, which allows workers to access professional support, training, and better protection of their rights.
Established in January 2026, the regional union now facilitates the joining of employees from other municipalities wishing to join. According to the CSN, this common structure opens the door to a broader improvement in working conditions for all municipal employees in the region.
