Floods along the Coulonge River; Municipality of Mansfield in surveillance mode

The Municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract has already seen multiple municipal sectors affected by spring flooding caused by the Coulonge River.

The Mansfield emergency services continue to surveil the situation closely, inspecting the roads nearest the current floods and its different waterways. Despite the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board projecting this spring’s highest water levels to be well below the historical highs seen in 2019, the fact remains that floods are both an extraordinary spectacle and have ravaging effects and damages regardless of the size of the flood.

This is a picture of the Plage Pont-Blanc, where water levels have risen significantly.

In addition to the main roads that were mentioned by Mayor Sandra Armstrong, other side and back roads have also been damaged by the water. This is the case on Chemin du Dépôt and Chemin Lac-de-la-Truite, specifically Lac Bell campground access road, which are currently closed because of the overflowing water.

The Municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract emergency services has asked that people be careful and avoid passing through flooded roads.
