Extreme cold warning: precautions to take in the Outaouais region
Environment Canada is forecasting very cold temperatures, particularly at night, which will be felt until Wednesday. The wind chill could be between -30 and -37 in places. CHIP weather specialist Pierre Cyr explains what’s causing these temperatures and gives us some details on the regions affected.
Cyr reminds us that normal seasonal temperatures are around -19°C at night and -7°C during the day. Monday will be the coldest day and the cold snap is expected to last until Wednesday.
The Centre intégré de santé et de Services Sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais (Outaouais Integrated Health and social services center) would like to remind you of the basic instructions for protecting yourself from extreme cold. For more information on winter health tips, please consult the web site of Gouvernement du Québec.
