“Did you see me?” bus safety campaign underway
Every year, the Bus Carriers Federation organizes a provincial safety campaign, the M’as-tu vu? (Did you see me?) campaign, to remind schoolchildren, stakeholders and road users of the importance of adopting safe behavior on and around school buses. This awareness campaign takes place during the first two weeks of February, a period when established habits and sometimes difficult weather conditions encourage a slackening of attention on the roads. This year’s campaign runs from January 27 to February 7. Luc Lafrance, CEO of the Federation, gives us more details (in French):
Too many road users persist in driving carelessly, even dangerously, when passing or following a school bus. The Federation urges you to behave safely in the presence of school buses and to respect their signals. An accident involving a school bus is one too many. Once again, Luc Lafrance:
The “Did you see me?” slogan is designed to remind road users of the importance of paying attention to signs and frequent school bus stops. The slogan also reminds schoolchildren to make sure they are seen by the driver at all times, especially when crossing the street, boarding or leaving the bus.
