CLSC Emergency Room in Mansfield: service interruption December 29 to December 30

The CLSC in Mansfield-et-Pontefract (Fort-Coulonge) will be temporarily shutting down it’s emergency room on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 7 a.m. until Friday, December 30, 2022 at 9 a.m.

In a news release, the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais said “This forced service interruption is cause by a lack of medical personnel on staff on December 29. However, in general the CLSC has been facing significant staff shortages in nurses and doctor in its emergency department. On average, about twenty patients come into to the emergency room per day. For the day of the service interruption, patients, especially those in need of an ambulance, will be diverted to a nearby hospital depending on the severity of the situation.”

The CISSS de l’Outaouais added that during this time, Mansfield and Fort-Coulonge residents especially should try and turn towards alternatives emergency services. Meaning: “People who need to consult a doctor or a healthcare professional are being asked to prioritize the following options:

– Contact Info-Santé at 811;
– Check the availability of your family doctor;
– Make an appointment with a medical clinic or a medical walk-in service;
– Consult a pharmacist;
– Use the front-line access window (GAP) if you are eligible,

“Like all health and social service institutions in the province, the CISSS de l’Outaouais is dealing with major challenges related to staff shortages,” the CISSS de l’Outaouais said. “We would like to thank all the entire CISSS de l’Outaouais staff who work tirelessly and in a difficult situations caring for Outaouais residents. We would also like to thank the population for their collaboration.”

The CISSSO has already indicated that service failures were possible during the holiday period.
