CHIP 101.9 Manager François Carrier departs for Le Droit
Last week, it was officially announced that CHIP 101.9’s Manager for the past 12 years, François Carrier, had been hired as General Manager of Le Droit, the French-language news organization based in Gatineau. With more than 20 years experience in media, Carrier currently serves as the President of l’Association des radios communautaires du Québec and previously worked for Radio-Canada, Journal La Gatineau in Maniwaki, and in communications for l’Assemblée de la francophonie de l’Ontario.
Carrier’s departure will be a big change for Pontiac’s Community Radio, but he will be involved in the transition in coordination with CHIP’s board of directors.
“CHIP would not be what we are, with such good results for more than 10 years, without François. He has accomplished exceptional work and we will highlight it shortly. We understand his decision very well, Le Droit is an institution that is very important, even for Pontiac,” wrote CHIP President Diane Grenier.
Several members of the community have already paid tribute to Carrier, who has enabled CHIP 101.9 to experience significant growth for more than 10 years. The mayor of Mansfield-et-Pontefract gave him a sweater in the official color of her municipality.
“We were lucky that we had the support of CHIP and François during the floods of recent years, I don’t know how we would have done it without the information that was transmitted on the radio. François has always been at the service of the population and we wanted to say thank you,” explained Mansfield-et-Pontefract Mayor Sandra Armstrong.
The Pontiac Chamber of Commerce has announced that their upcoming Black Tie Gala on April 6 (presented by CHIP 101.9) will highlight Carrier’s contributions to the community.
Carrier will be a guest on CHIP’s morning show Bonjour Pontiac this Wednesday (March 27) with host Eric O’Brien.
