Caisse Populaire des Rivières de Pontiac responds to concerns about the Fort-Coulonge office moving

17 April 2019 à 12:00 am

At the most recent council meeting of the municipality of Fort-Coulonge, concerns were raised by local citizens and politicians about the possibility of the Caisse Populaire des Rivières de Pontiac’s Fort-Coulonge office moving. CHIP 101.9 was on site to record what was said.

In an interview this week, the CEO of the Caisse Populaire des Rivières in Pontiac, Stéphane Labine, confirmed that this project does, in fact, exist, but said that no decision was made yet by the board of directors, contrary to what some rumors have been suggested in the last few days.

Different options are currently under consideration: the renovation of the current building, or the repositioning the office to another location, becoming a tenant or an owner.

In order to make a decision, the local Desjardin’s Board of Directors must analyze the different alternatives taking into account certain criterias and conditions.

The Board of Directors of Caisse des Rivieres de Pontiac plans on updating and consulting the members of the Caisse Desjardins, as the project progresses, in order to consider the position of the members before making any concrete decisions.

Annual General Meeting postponed to 2020
Regarding their Annual General Meeting, which was originally scheduled to take place in April of this year has been postponed until 2020, as announced last week on the Caisse Desjardins des Rivières de Pontiac’s Facebook page, given that a general meeting was held last fall, before merger of the Caisse Populaire in Chapeau and Fort-Coulonge. This news also caused some citizens and local elected officials to react during the last council meeting in Fort-Coulonge.

In response to these concerns, Stéphane Labine clarified the reason for the postponed AGM.

The Caisse Desjardins des Rivieres de Pontiac bears this name since January 1st, after the merger of the two branches. The project of repositioning the Fort-Coulonge office will be under review by the directors of the Caisse des Rivières de Pontiac for some time, according to the general manager.
