Drugs seized, charges laid after vehicle stop in Campbell’s Bay

Two people were arrested on Monday night (September 30) in Campbell’s Bay after their vehicle was stopped for a traffic infraction.

According to a press release from the Sûreté du Québec, at around 6:30 p.m. officers intercepted a vehicle on rue Front in Campbell’s Bay for a check relating to the Highway Safety Code. Police discovered that the driver, a 29 year-old man from Campbell’s Bay, had a suspended drivers license. In addition, a search of the vehicle turned up nearly 100 methamphetamine pills, nearly 6 grams of cocaine, and $500 in cash, which police seized along with a cell phone.

The driver was arrested and released with a date at the Campbell’s Bay courthouse, where he could face charges relating to drugs and breach of conditions. His car was also seized for 30 days.

The passenger, a 22 year-old woman from l’Isle-aux-Allumettes, was arrested and released with a promise to appear at the Campbell’s Bay courthouse, where she could face drug charges.

Police did not release any further details.
