Significant changes to Desjardins credit cards starting in October 2026

Desjardins credit card holders should expect several changes starting in mid-October. The financial institution will be undertaking a major modernization of its credit card management system to offer new features and improve the member experience.

The transition will begin on October 12th, 2026. During this period, routine transactions will continue to function normally, but some operations, such as requesting a credit limit increase, changing a PIN, or redeeming BONIDOLLARS, may be temporarily unavailable. Desjardins therefore recommends that its members complete these steps before the start of the work.

Contrary to what was announced earlier this year, co-owned credit cards will ultimately be maintained. Current cardholders will keep their cards, but it will no longer be possible to obtain a new one after October 12th, until this functionality is integrated into the new system.

The modernization will also introduce several new features. Members will be able to add a new card to their digital wallet before even receiving it in the mail, manage their credit limit online, request a replacement card, track the status of their request, dispute a transaction online, and use their BONIDOLLARS more easily, with a balance updated in real time.

Businesses will also benefit from an enhanced management platform allowing them to, among other things, modify credit limits, manage user access, and add new cards online.

Changes will also affect Accord D financing holders, who will now need to view their financing in the “Cards, Loans and Lines of Credit” section of AccèsD or the mobile app. Eligible customers will also be able to convert their financing into a personal loan.

Finally, the rules for credit balance insurance will be modified. In the event of death, disability, or involuntary job loss, benefits will now be calculated based on the account balance the day before the covered event, rather than the most recent statement.

These changes are designed to provide faster, more flexible services that better meet the current needs of Desjardins members.
