“Many specialists are noticing a setback in the development of autonomy in children, which prompted Naître et grandir to write a dossier that would help parents support their children in this learning process. Geneviève Doray explains that independence doesn’t only mean to learn to do things alone, but also to make choices, to express preferences, to understand things alone and to regulate emotions, among other things. This dossier adresses things such as the necessary steps toward autonomy and tangible tips to help during this process. It also discusses emotional independence to teach kids how to regulate emotions, and suggests responsibilities for different age groups to encourage children to become more independent.”
Always guided by an empathetic approach and grounded in reliable data, Naître et grandir provides resources to support families in their daily lives, while promoting practices that foster a healthy and stimulating environment for young children. The issue also explores the benefits of daycare breaks for toddlers. Again, Geneviève Doray states:
“Kids need a break week once in a while. Daycares and schools can be overstimulating and loud for young children, as well as demanding in terms of following classroom rules and learning. A lack of a break can cause kids to have unusual habits and be stressed, which is why it is important for them to rest.”
This March–April issue is aimed at parents, expectant parents, and everyone involved in children’s lives, including early childhood professionals. It is now available online and in print at various distribution points.
