Presentation of the 2025 MacLachlan Scholarships to Pontiac Nursing Students

The Integrated Health and Social Services Centre (CISSS) of the Outaouais and the Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation have announced the presentation of the 2025 MacLachlan Scholarships to three Pontiac students enrolled in nursing: Brandon Ladouceur, Léa LaSalle, and Sarah Bouchard.

These scholarships, worth up to $5,000 per year for full-time studies (and $2,500 for part-time studies), were presented by Mr. Allan Dean, President of the Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation, and Ms. Nicole Boucher-Larivière, Director of the Pontiac Local Service Network (RLS).

“The goal of this scholarship is to help promote the nursing profession and support the recruitment of qualified staff in our region, as the need for nurses at the Pontiac Hospital has never been greater,”
emphasized Ms. Boucher-Larivière.

The scholarships aim to encourage Pontiac residents who choose to pursue nursing studies at a recognized institution, either in Quebec or Ontario. Since the program’s creation, seven students have received support through this initiative. Notably, the first recipient of the MacLachlan Scholarship, Annie-Claude Durocher, has now completed her nursing studies and joined the Pontiac Hospital team.

The official presentation took place in the presence of Dr. Thomas O’Neill, Dr. Marc Bilodeau (President and CEO of the CISSS de l’Outaouais), Ms. Nicole Boucher-Larivière, and Ms. Natalie Romain, Clinical and Administrative Coordinator with the Nursing Directorate.

“We are extremely proud to see a MacLachlan Scholarship recipient return to work here. It’s proof that this program is making a real difference in strengthening the next generation of nurses,”
said Mr. Allan Dean.

The MacLachlan Scholarship was created by the Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation to support the education of Pontiac students in nursing and to help promote the profession within the region. Each recipient may receive up to $20,000 in total over the course of their studies.
