The Quebec government has announced an investment of $ 14.3 million to support the forestry industry, that was hit hard since the closure of the Fortress plant in Thurso. In an interview with CHIP 1019, the Minister responsible for the Outaouais Mathieu Lacombe indicated that it was still a temporary aid to support the forest workers who were affected by the absence of Fortress.

The Davidson energy project has presented itself as a solution to the current problems of the forest industry. Mathieu Lacombe mentioned that what follows could become interesting for the Pontiac.

These are temporary measures that were put forward following the recommendations made last June by the intervention unit on the vitality of the region’s forestry industry. The intervention unit must submit a report by December 15. The full interview with the Minister of Families, Minister responsible for the Outaouais and Member of Parliament for Papineau Mathieu Lacombe is available here.
