Volunteer of the Year Award at the MRC Pontiac

The Pontiac MRC has presented several recognition awards last night to volunteers in the region to signify their involvement in their community. This was a first for the MRC, which announced the event last month.

Each of the 18 municipalities in the MRC has nominated a deserving person, group or organization to give them a plaque commemorating their contributions.

Among the recipients was the fire chief of the municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract, Darcy Bélair, who told us what this award represented for him and his colleagues.

MRC Warden Jane Toller explained the importance of emphasizing volunteer involvement in the Pontiac region.

In addition, she stated how the MRC organized itself to prepare for this evening in such little time.

The MRC Pontiac would like this recognition event to become an annual event. The list of recipients from each municipality will be available shortly.
