The annual tree day celebration will return to MRC Pontiac this Friday (May 27) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents can stop by and choose from a wide selection of saplings free of charge.
MRC Pontiac Territory Director Jason Durand explained that in addition to the MRC office, trees would also be distributed in various municipal offices: Alleyn-et-Cawood, Clarendon, Otter Lake, L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Sheenboro, Rapides-des-Joachims. He said they received roughly 6,000 trees, with eight different species available: yellow birch, sugar maple, red oak, burr oak, black cherry, white spruce, white pine and red pine.
Durand added that there would also be a barbeque lunch, with the proceeds going to local food bank Bouffe Pontiac.
