The Fort Coulonge Golden Age Hall to remain open

During a special meeting of the Fort Coulonge Golden Age Hall, held on September 15, the Municipality of Fort Coulonge stated that the facility would remain open and keep its function within the community.

After the emergency meeting was called, attendees expressed the need to keep the facility open. Fort Coulonge Mayor Debbie Laporte said that no matter what, the hall would keep it’s function within the community.

The important point that was raised during the meeting is to know who currently owns this building. After being run for years by volunteers, there are doubts as to who legally owns the venue. The Golden Age Club took over the management of the site, but legal ownership is still in question.

“We hired the firm PME INTER notary from Mireille Alary’s office to clarify this issue and help us find solutions,” said Laporte.

Once this question is clarified, the municipality, the Golden Age Club and some people who have shown an interest in getting involved, will be able to find solutions suited to the situation. This meeting fulfilled its objectives since the Golden Age Club was able to recruit new members, who will be able to contribute to the relaunch of the Club’s activities

More details to come.
