École des Petits-Ponts is one of some fifty schools nominated in the country as BOKS school for the year 2019-2020.

“For several years we have been working very hard to bring fun, innovative activities that encourage students to move both inside and outside of our schools,” said School Director Stéphane Bouchard.

BOKS is a physical activity program designed to get kids moving and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The organization said it received more than 120 applications from across Canada, which presented schools striving to provide physical activity during the day for students.

The director of the École des Petits-Ponts gave a few examples of initiatives that were organized during the 2019-2020 school year, which were worth the nomination at the establishment. Among other things, he mentioned the outdoor program, the Ski at school program, participation in the great Pierre Lavoie challenge, as well as cultural programs such as Génie en herbe and improvisation at school.

These activities were organized in all of the Petits-Ponts establishments in the most recent school year. “It demonstrates all the innovative character and the way to get young people to move and enrich themselves in different ways than the traditional class,” explains Mr. Bouchard. These are small gestures that show that we are trying as much as possible to create a favorable environment to encourage young people to move and be well in their bodies, "he added, stressing the work and commitment of the workers. who contributed to the realization of the different projects.

The general management of the Hauts-Bois-de-l’Outaouais School Service Center also wished to thank the École des Petits-Ponts for its participation in the BOKS program. “Managing the program requires sustained communication and commitment for those who go the extra mile to add daily physical activity to a school day - which is not always easy,” said a press release. for this purpose. Schools that give more than the minimum required of their students show dedication, enthusiasm and energy. Qualities that help BOKS coordinators accomplish their mission and get kids moving even more across Canada. "
