The Sûreté du Québec has carried out a review of the 2021 snowmobile season, which has now ended. According to the various data, patrollers of the Sûreté du Québec carried out a series of operations on the trails, near them and also on the off-trail level throughout the Outaouais-Laurentides territory throughout the the season. All in order to ensure that all snowmobile enthusiasts can enjoy this recreational tourism activity in complete safety.

The patrollers intervened with snowmobilers and all-terrain vehicles users on offenses committed, whether under the Criminal Code, the Highway Safety Code or the Act respecting off-highway vehicles. These operations mainly targeted offenses relating to obeying signs, speeding and driving impaired by alcohol or drugs or a combination of the two, which are the main causes of fatal and injured collisions. serious.

The season boils down to nearly 155 outings by police officers assigned to these operations, compared to 86 in 2020.

During these operations:

- 6784 snowmobiles were checked (4028 in 2020)
- 222 statements of offense submitted under the law on off-road vehicles (132 in 2020)
- 372 offense reports issued for various offenses (81 in 2020)
- 931 warnings were issued (492 in 2020)

With these numerous interventions, the Sûreté du Québec affirms that it wishes to make the trails safer in order to reduce the risk of collision and the loss of human life.
