The heads of the School Boards commission scolaire des Hauts-Bois-de-l’Outaouais, Coeur-des-Vallées, des Draveurs, and Portages-de-l’Outaouais welcome the adoption of the bill on the reform of the school tax rate in Quebec. According to a statement issued by the CSHBO last Monday, four presidents are particularly pleased that this reform in effect as of July will put an end to the inequality that existed in the tax rates between the 5 school boards in the region.

They said that by proposing a single regional tax rate, the reform will address the inequality that affected taxpaying parents with children enrolled in a francophone school board in the region compared to taxpayers without children.

In recent years, Francophone school boards in Outaouais have had to charge a higher rate to their clientele, unlike the Western Québec School Board. The standardization of school taxes in the region was proposed in the National Assembly, after the opposition parties demanded that the situation be rectified.
