The search resumed this morning (Sunday February 14) to find a snowmobiler from L’Isle-aux-Allumettes missing since last Friday (February 12). The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) divers are on site and are still trying to find the man and his vehicle. The divers try using sonar to find the man who has not been seen since Friday. Ground searches have been carried out but the majority of the efforts are concentrated in the Chapeau sector of the Ottawa River.

“Considering that there are traces of snowmobiling which have been observed in the Chapeau sector on the Ottawa River in a portion up to white water, the searches are concentrated in this place for the moment” specified Sergeant Claude Denis of the Sûreté du Québec.

It was the snowmobiler’s relatives who contacted the Sûreté du Québec. The snowmobiler was last seen by his relatives around 8 p.m. Friday evening (February 12). The search began around 1 a.m. on Saturday, in collaboration with the Pontiac West Fire Department. Reinforcements from other municipalities were also contacted to assist in the search.
