There’s less than a week to go before the Pontiac Terry Fox run takes off for its 40th anniversary this Sunday, September 19. John Petty, the organizer and founding member of the local run said that this year participants would be setting off by themselves from Pontiac High school between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., so to avoid people crowding up.
Just like previous years, the Shawville Lions club will be hosting a barbeque on site. To build up the hype for this year’s anniversary, Petty said that groups had been logging hours on their own and submitting their mileage, in an effort to recreate Terry’s run across Canada. He added that they were well on their way to completing their goal and encouraged the public to participate.
