Fire ban lifted for forests across province

The Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks, in collaboration with the Society for the Protection of Forests against Fire (SOPFEU) have lifted the ban on open fires in or near the forest as of May 15 at 4 p.m. This ban went into effect May 7.

Currently, 9 forest fires are active across the province, but the fighting operations are progressing smoothly and all fires are under control. Since the start of the protection season, 232 fires have affected 234.2 hectares of land, nearly double the 10-year average by the same date, which is 128 fires affecting 106.7 hectares of forest.
