Des Collines police called to third impaired driving accident in a row

14 August 2021 à 12:00 am

For the third evening in a row, the MRC des Collines police responded to an accident involving impaired driving. Last evening, (August 12) around 9 p.m., the Sureté du Québec transferred a call to observe a vehicle that was moving erratically. The vehicle took the La Pêche exit heading towards the Ste-Cécile-de-Masham area. Several minutes later, the caller witnessed an accident on route Principale East. The vehicle, driven by a 31-year-old man from La Pêche, collided with two other vehicles waiting at a stoplight in a construction area. Police were on scene quickly and noticed signs of drug impairment. The driver was arrested and taken to the police station for testing. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene as a precaution to treat victims for shock, but transportation to hospital was not required.

Back on Tuesday August 10, MRC des Collines police responded to a similar accident. At around 10 p.m., a call was received for a vehicle rolled over in the ditch close to 1387 chemin River in L’Ange-Gardien. The driver, a 37-year-old man, from L’Ange-Gardien was the only one in the vehicle and was unconscious. He regained consciousness several minutes later and was extricated from the vehicle. Paramedics took him to Hull Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Speed and alcohol were determined to be factors in the driver losing control of the vehicle.
