This Sunday (May 29) there will be a celebration marking the opening of the new axe throwing lanes at the Pont Blanc beach in Mansfield-et-Pontefract. The Coopérative Aventure Hélianthe, the organization that operates the beach, will be hosting a barbeque and friendly competition from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The cooperative’s President Guillaume Lavoie-Harvey, said that tickets would be $25 and can be booked online. There are 100 tickets available for the opening day.

Lavoie Harvey said that axe throwing is an increasingly popular sport and despite how it sounds, is actually quite safe. The lanes are separated by chain link fence and the wooden target is 12 feet from the thrower. He added that there is a staff member on hand at all times to ensure rules are followed and to offer tips.

The full interview with Lavoie-Harvey is available here.
