According to the latest update from the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Commission, water flows and levels in the Ottawa River are expected to increase further in the coming days due to snowmelt which is increasing and that rainfall of 15 to 50 mm is forecast for the center and the north of the watershed. Along the stretch between Coulonge Lake and Deschênes Lake, water levels will continue to rise and are expected to exceed major flood thresholds beginning Wednesday. Peak levels could be similar to levels observed during the May 2017 flood in all locations. It is recalled that reservoirs in the watershed are used to store runoff water and minimize the impacts of flooding. The next update should be released this Tuesday afternoon.
