The Pontiac Agricultural Society (PAS) announced the cancellation of the 164th edition of the Shawville Fair, which was to take place in late summer 2020.

“The cancellation of the fair is not done lightly, this decision is made by the need to keep our fair visitors, exhibitors and volunteers safe”, said PAS’ president, Charleen Moore, inviting people to the 2021 event.

The organisators declared they had the indication from the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) to cancell all public gatherings related to the agriculture, including Fairs, youth competitions, bread picnics and other large gatherings, as an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

In 2019, the Shawville Fair welcomed more than 45,000 visitors from the Pontiac and elsewhere.
