5 July 2022 à 12:00 am

The three members of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) in the Outaouais, Mathieu Lacombe, Mathieu Lévesque and Robert Bussière, held a press conference last week regarding their party’s record over the past four years. In an interview with CHIP 101.9, Bussière, the deputy for the riding of Gatineau, highlighted the accomplishments of his party, including the site of the region’s future hospital, which will be located in the industrial district in the Hull sector of the city of Gatineau. Bussière believes that this new hospital will have an impact for the entire Outaouais.

“We managed to get a government commitment to build a 600-bed hospital,” he said (translated). “The site was chosen, it will be built not far from Hwy. 5 in the Hull sector in the Adrien Robert industrial park. It would be a hospital that would be accessible to everyone. It would be built for the people of the Outaouais, not just for the people of Gatineau, but for the whole of the Outaouais…”

Bussière, who is a native of Otter Lake, highlighted the work of his government regarding accessibility to high-speed internet. Asked about his party’s program for the next election campaign, which should begin towards the end of the summer, Bussière believes that his government will now tackle cellular coverage in the region.

“I notice near my office, near one of my offices in Chelsea or if we go along the municipal road maybe near the offices of the NCC, forget about it, cell phones doesn’t work and yet you don’t you’re not far from town,” he said (translated). “So it is a major project that we will surely undertake in the next mandate.”

The former mayor of La Pêche and former warden of MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, Bussière said that this will be his last mandate.

“First, I am completing my thirty-second year in politics so I have never taken anything for granted,” he said (translated). “So, I have one last election campaign started, it will be my last mandate. I will retire afterwards, but I have things to accomplish, things to complete and then that’s what I want to do the most.”
