Xavier Lusignan heading to the World Junior Weightlifting Championships
Mansfield-et-Pontefract weightlifter Xavier Lusignan is heading to Athens Greece from May 2 to 8 for the World Junior Weightlifting Championships. This is the second international competition for the young athlete, who placed sixth overall at the Junior Pan-American Games in Colombia last summer. He told CHIP 101.9 that he was hoping to place in the top ten.
“So far it’s been going great. I’ve been to Toronto for a couple of times,” he said (translated). “We do little kind of training camps, just to fix a couple of things with my technique, to make sure that when I come to the competition, I’m ready and at my best. So, at the moment, everything is fine. I feel stronger than ever. I feel ready for the competition. Then, that’s it, we don’t expect anything other than a great experience in Greece. Next Sunday makes it May 8th. Again, depending on which group we are going to be placed in, either B or A, they are different times.”
CHIP 101.9 will share the links to follow Lusignan’s performance live.
