WQSB issues statement on bus driver strike
The Western Quebec School Board issued a statement Friday (May 5) regarding the ongoing school bus driver strike, which began last Monday.
The statement notes that the school board has been in frequent contact with both Autobus Lasalle and Bigras Transport, as well as their parent company SOGESCO, to be informed of the negotiations, and also expressed their “deep frustration” at the break in transportation for more than 2,300 students at their schools throughout the Outaouais.
“At this time, the latest information we have from Autobus Lasalle, Bigras Transport and parent company SOGESCO is that negotiations are ongoing with their drivers’ union, but unfortunately the two sides have still not yet reached an agreement and that the strike will continue,” the statement reads.
Area schools have remained open and parents have been asked to figure out alternative transportation for their children.
