William Amos announces an investment of more than $ 69,000 for the Pontiac Ouest se branche organization

Pontiac MP William Amos announced new investments under the small-scale projects component of the Accessibility Fund, including $ 69,240 that will be donated to the organization Pontiac Ouest se branche, located in the Chapeau sector in L’Isle-aux-Allumettes. The Camp Misquah organization in Gracefield, for its part, will obtain an investment of $ 100,000. Funding will support ramps and a wheelchair accessible door.

The Accessibility Fund supports construction projects across the country that aim to improve accessibility, safety and inclusion for people with disabilities. This year, the Small Projects Component of the Accessibility Fund introduced a new application process to give more flexibility to organizations applying for grants of up to $ 100,000 per project.

The program funds important infrastructure such as ramps, automated doors and accessible washrooms that people with disabilities rely on. The Fund also supports organizations that break down barriers for people with disabilities through programs, services and employment opportunities.

Some statistics of the short program

* Since the inception of the Accessibility Fund, the Government of Canada has funded more than 4,200 accessibility projects across the country,

* Nearly $ 17 million has been set aside in 2020-2021 to support the small-scale projects component ($ 16 million) and the Youth Innovation component ($ 1 million) of the Accessibility Fund.

* Due to COVID-19, organizations have also had more time to complete their projects.
