The Warden of MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller, mentioned that she wants to work with the various stakeholders involved in the management of the hydro dams along the Ottawa River to prevent floods like 2019, in the future. She said that she wanted to move forward, focusing not on who is responsible for this year’s floods, but looking towards the future.
Toller also mentioned that she would like a political organization to be set up, consisting of the wardens from each region of the Outaouais, the warden of the Renfrew County, as well as the mayors of Gatineau and Ottawa in order to establishing a strategy to reinforce the dams.
The warden concluded by saying that the MRC plans to send information to the Pontiac residents in regards to the methods that will be used to help families to reintegrate safely their homes.
It should also be noted that the MRC Pontiac will hold its monthly meeting of mayors tonight at 6:30 pm in Elsie-Gibbons Hall at the MRC in Campbell’s Bay.
