“We need to show more stability in the number of cases, hospitalizations and outbreaks” – Josée Fillion
The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais confirmed that in recent weeks there has been a drop in new daily cases of COVID-19. Despite everything, this drop is not sufficient according to the CISSS de l’Outaouais, even if the number of cases is comparable to certain regions located in the orange zone.
“However, we must show more stability on the number of cases, hospitalizations and outbreaks, hence the importance of continuing to protect the most vulnerable people and the health and social services network” specified the interim director of the public health department of the CISSSO, Dr Brigitte Pinard.
According to the CISSS de l’Outaouais, this drop reflects the effectiveness of the health measures in place and the efforts of the entire population. Community transmission is more present in urban areas where there is a high population density. The Outaouais border situation and its geographic location partly explain the need to maintain more stringent measures.
“For nearly a year, the people of the Outaouais have been showing solidarity. In the last few weeks, we have noticed that the situation is improving and that the measures have reduced the transmission of the virus. However, it is important to continue our efforts despite the fatigue and the urge to be with friends or with members of our family. We must continue to protect ourselves and our vulnerable people ”insists Josée Fillion.
The CISSS de l’Outaouais wanted to tell the population what measures in place will be adjusted from February 8 in the red zone.
Some of the adjustments made to the red zone include:
– The reopening of non-priority businesses, including those of personal and beauty care
– The reopening of museums and libraries
– The resumption of outdoor activities bringing together a maximum of four people, respecting the distance of 2 meters.
Note that the curfew between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., the ban on gatherings in private homes and on private land and mandatory teleworking are maintained. Compliance with health instructions remains essential.
