Water main break in Shawville affecting section of Centre Street

Residents of Shawville woke up this morning (December 12) to news that parts of Centre Street and the business plaza on Hwy. 148 were without water due to a main break.

Mayor Bill McCleary explained that the breach affects everyone on Centre Street from Bristol Street to Hwy. 148, John Street, as well as some Clarendon residents on Heath Road. He said that he hadn’t spoke with the work crew yet, but hoped that the break would be fixed later today.

Once the break is fixed, he said that there would be a boil water advisory for the area until the water can be tested, which typically takes a few days.
