Waltham: speed reduction request on Hwy 148 for the residential area

The Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) is currently studying the possibility of reducing the speed on highway 148 in the residential area of the municipality of Waltham, between the bridge leading to L’Isle-aux-Allumettes and Perry rd.
The director general of the municipality, Fernand Roy:

The municipality is now requesting a reduction from 90km/h to 80 km/h for a targeted distance about 2km. This request to the MTQ was made on prior occasions in 1996 and 2016, to no avail.

The municipality believes that a final answer regarding the modification of the speed limit could be given in summer. Note that this project does not apply to the request made for the passage of all-terrain vehicles (ATV) between Waltham and Davidson (Mansfield-et-Pontefract). That request had been declined by the MTQ in recent weeks.
