Violence and Bullying Prevention Week Marked at ESSC
In schools, as elsewhere, talking about respect is never trivial. At École secondaire Sieur-de-Coulonge, the Week for the Prevention of Violence and Bullying, held from March 23 to 27, 2026, serves as an important reminder: kindness is built day by day.
Behind the planned activities—pink accessories, messages placed on a symbolic tree, and meetings with community partners—lies a simple yet powerful goal: encouraging students to reflect on their actions and their words.
Bullying does not always begin with major acts. It can appear in a remark, a look, or one laugh too many. Conversely, kindness does not need to be grand to make a difference. A word of encouragement, a listening ear, or an inclusive gesture can transform someone’s day.
The theme, “Let’s Keep Being Kind,” is particularly fitting. It is not only about being kind when things are going well, but especially in more difficult moments—when the choice between indifference and respect truly matters.
This type of initiative also shows that prevention does not rely solely on rules or sanctions. It depends on collective engagement: students, teachers, and the broader community working together to create a positive environment.
Because addressing bullying is not a one-time campaign—it is an ongoing, shared commitment.
And perhaps the true success of this week will not be measured by the number of activities, but by the small, unseen acts of kindness that continue long afterward.
