VIACTIVE Day celebrating 31st year in Fort-Coulonge
The resumption of VIACTIVE Day in the Pontiac for its 31st year is scheduled for this Friday, May 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort-Coulonge.
This annual regional event is organized by the l’Académie des retraités de l’Outaouais in collaboration with the CISSS de l’Ouaouais, la Table de développement social du Pontiac, the Pontiac Community Development Corporation et la Table des aînés and retraités du Pontiac. The event aims to introduce the VIACTIVE program while highlighting the importance of breaking isolation by meeting after two years of the pandemic. This gathering is also an opportunity to come and meet and capture in words and images this celebration among retirees and seniors in the Outaouais.
This program is designed to help retirees and seniors move more regularly through physical activity sessions adapted for them and taking place on a weekly basis throughout the year.
The goal is to keep participants independent for as long as possible. VIACTIVE is an important tool in promoting physical and mental health among our seniors. It promotes the adoption of a physically active lifestyle, which helps prevent various health problems such as chronic diseases, falls and loss of autonomy in addition to breaking isolation.
