Since the opening of the COVID-19 screening clinic in the Outaouais region on Saturday afternoon, more then a hundred tests have been performed: 48 in the day on Saturday and the health services plan to perform a total of 56 on Sunday. Still no cases have been reported in the region.
A pre-assessment clinic was added in the last hours to relieve the phone lines of the Health Ministry. Sunday afternoon, the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais said it had evaluated 12 patients, and 9 of them were tested.
People with symptoms should contact 1-877-644-4545.
The CISSS de l’Outaouais says to be aware of the large volume of calls at the moment and ensures that the entire network is mobilized to stabilize the situation.
[(The CISSS de l’Outaouais is looking for retirees from the health and social services network who wish to support operations in the coming weeks. It is indicated that this return to work will have no impact on the retirement plan of these people and that no contribution to a professional order is required.

No visits to seniors, except …
Although Quebec has prohibited visits to hospitals, seniors’ centers and CHSLDs, the CISSS de l’Outaouais will allow some exceptions for humanitarian reasons, such as:
– The presence of a companion during childbirth
– Visits to people in end-of-life care and intensive care
– Parents visiting their child hospitalized in pediatrics
However, users who have any symptoms of COVID-19 or who have traveled are requested not to come to the health facilities, and the CISSS de l’Outaouais is calling on everyone to take responsibility to avoid the spread of the virus among vulnerable people.
The CISSS de l’Outaouais also wants to be reassuring to caregivers. “We take care of your parents and loved ones. Our staff will contact families as needed to keep them informed of any special situation. We are currently working to increase our teams in CHLSDs. I [Josée Filion, CEO of CISSS de l’Outaouais], will be clear, we take care of the safety of our residents and meet their needs.”
Maintenance of services
The CISSS de l’Outaouais says it reviews all activities in order to provide essential care and services in the context of the pandemic. “At this point, we ask people who have symptoms or who have traveled not to show up for their appointment and to call 1-877-644-4545. Otherwise, we will notify all those whose appointments will be rescheduled by telephone”, adds the CISSS.
