Unveiling of the 2024 Climate Action Barometer
With 2024 shaping up to be the hottest year on record, there are still several erroneous beliefs among the general public that could put the brakes on climate action. In fact, according to the new 2024 Climate Action Barometer developed by Laval University’s Climate Research Group, people with a strong knowledge of climate issues are more likely to adopt favorable behaviors, such as recycling and composting, reducing solo car use and even voting for political parties putting forward proposals to fight climate change. Valériane Champagne St-Arnaud, professor at Université Laval and principal author of the Barometer, gives us more details:

However, the Barometer also notes signs of climate fatigue, as almost one in four people (24%) say they are already doing all they can for the climate, a proportion that has been rising in recent years. You can find the key data from the 2024 Barometer here.
