Last week, the ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation of Quebec announced financial assistance totalling $4,230,829 for the implementation of twenty-three initiatives and a regional agreement, submitted under the Fonds d’appui au rayonnement des régions (FARR).

Two projects have been selected for the MRC Pontiac:

Development and consolidation of agricultural markets: $ 68,000
Develop an agricultural market in the MRC Pontiac. Several steps are necessary for the realization of this project: find a suitable location, purchase of land and build a sustainable infrastructure (sanitary facilities, rest area, etc.).

Map of the revitalization projects in the MRC Pontiac: $ 180,000
Carry out plans for the development and revitalization of six village centers in the MRC per year. This initiative will also make it possible to analyze the current development and revitalization projects in the MRC Pontiac in order to organize them around collective resources, maximize the investments and foster a collaboration with the MRC, particularly by promoting collaboration with organizations from other Outaouais MRC’s.

The Pontiac and Vallée-de-la-Gatineau’s Picanoc fiber connection project has been accepted under the FARR as a way of ensuring Internet access in these two territories.

Characterization and feasibility study of FTTH access for all the MRC Pontiac and La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau territories: $ 99,704
Provide the MRC Pontiac and La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau with an action plan to maximize the deployment of fiber optics to ensure that people in these two territories have access to the Internet that is reliable, fast and competitive cost.

Regional agreement in a consultation that will address issues of common interest for the MRC’s across the Outaouais:

Agreement in regional consultation: $ 300,000
Establish a strategy and regional consultation activities to support the implementation of regional development priorities and consider the issues of common interest for the Outaouais.
